Navigation of uncrewed aerial vehicle

Overview

Drones have emerged as a new technology as inexpensive flight controllers arrived on the market.  While they are useful for surveillance and destruction, they have also found uses in places where humans find it difficult to access, or to function when they get there.  They have seen use at the scene of natural disasters, and to inspect nuclear reactors.

To be participants, rather than spectators and delivery vehicles, drones will need a “pair of hands”, a useful set of sensors and actuators that allow the drone (like any robot) to complete some valuable work in the real world.

This patent describes one set of actuators and controls to be used in the streetlight maintenance process.
