Near Sky pole-top data center

Cimcon Lighting had a successful business in smart lighting controls for public infrastructure.  For the most part they competed with very low end light level detectors.

Operating on the pole top, whether owned by the telephone company, the power company, or otherwise, is a privileged position.  Many urban intersections are a mix of overlapping systems, including traffic lights, cameras, environmental sensors, power meters, and all the related wiring and mechanical supports.

The prototype device was available when I joined the company, but I identified the “Near Sky” as the physical space that was under-exploited, and that provided a focus for further product development, including this patent for a large modular pole-top data center system.
